ICoP India 2026 Hands-on-Workshop: Model-Based Bioequivalence (MBBE) using Pumas

About the International Conference on Pharmacometrics (ICoP-India)

The International Conference on Pharmacometrics, India, serves as a premier global forum organized by the Society of Pharmacometrics and Health Analytics (SOPHAS – formerly known as PAGIN).

SOPHAS is dedicated to advancing quantitative research in healthcare data analytics, drug development, and the responsible application of these innovations. Since its inception in 2025, the conference has offered an important platform for fostering collaboration, encouraging the exchange of innovative ideas, and promoting the growth of pharmacometrics within India. The theme for the 2026 conference, “Quantitative Approaches in Drug Development — A Path Forward,” underscores a collective commitment to model-informed drug development (MIDD). It highlights the expanding impact of pharmacometrics and health analytics in guiding better therapeutic decisions, reflecting the conference’s ongoing mission to support innovation and excellence in the field.

What to Expect

Bioequivalence (BE) evaluation is a critical step in drug development, yet traditional Non-Compartmental Analysis (NCA) often struggles with complex scenarios—such as sparse sampling, high inter-individual variability, and long-acting formulations.

This one-day workshop introduces Model-Based Bioequivalence (MBBE) using Pumas. Participants will move beyond the limitations of NCA, learning to utilize population pharmacokinetic models to handle missing data, optimize study designs, and differentiate between subject and residual variability. The course will also cover Virtual Bioequivalence (VBE), teaching attendees how to perform simulations to ensure robust regulatory compliance, determine optimal sample sizes, and control Type 1 error rates.
